Ingredients

Main
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled/deveined
  • 1/4 cup honey pure
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil extra-virgin
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions sliced
  • sesame seeds garnish

Equipment

  • large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • whisk
  • tongs
  • Paper Towels

Method

Main Instructions
  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.
  2. Whisk together the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and olive oil in a small bowl until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Stir the optional cornstarch into the sauce mixture now if you prefer a thicker, more glaze-like consistency.
  4. Heat a splash of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and arrange shrimp in a single layer.
  5. Season the shrimp with salt and pepper and sear for 2-3 minutes until the edges turn opaque and pink.
  6. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the shrimp and toss them gently to ensure every piece is evenly coated.
  7. Lower the heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce bubbles, thickens, and the shrimp are fully cooked.
  8. Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish the dish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure the shrimp are completely dry before hitting the hot pan to prevent steaming. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days, though the honey sauce is best enjoyed immediately. If you are meal prepping, wait to add the garnish until you are ready to eat to keep the onions crisp.
