Ingredients

For the chicken and bacon:
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts raw
  • 3/4 cup cooked bacon pieces crispy
For the creamy ranch sauce:
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) unsalted cream of chicken soup condensed
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth liquid
  • 1 oz dry ranch dressing seasoning packet
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese sharp

Equipment

  • 6-Quart Slow Cooker
  • Medium Saucepan
  • whisk
  • tongs

Method

  1. Arrange the four chicken breasts in a single layer at the bottom of your slow cooker. Distribute the cooked bacon pieces over the meat to ensure every portion is infused with smoky flavor.
  2. Combine the cream cheese, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, ranch seasoning, and shredded cheddar in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk the mixture constantly until the cheese is melted and the texture is completely smooth.
  3. Pour the warm cheese and ranch mixture over the chicken and bacon in the crockpot. Use a spatula to ensure the chicken is fully submerged in the sauce.
  4. Secure the lid and set the temperature to LOW for 4 to 6 hours. Cook until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and is tender enough to pull apart.
  5. Remove the chicken from the pot and shred it using two forks if you prefer a pulled texture, or leave the breasts whole. Return the meat to the sauce to coat every piece thoroughly.
  6. Serve the warm chicken and creamy sauce over a bed of fluffy white rice, buttery pasta, or mashed potatoes. Garnish with a few extra cracks of black pepper or fresh chives if desired.

Notes

For the best texture, ensure the cream cheese is fully melted in the saucepan before adding it to the slow cooker to avoid small white flecks in your finished sauce. You can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, though the sauce may thicken; simply splash in a little extra broth when reheating to restore the creamy consistency.
