Prepare the Filling
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onions until the meat is no longer pink.
- Drain any excess grease from the skillet to ensure the crust stays crisp.
- Stir in the salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, then spread the beef mixture evenly into the bottom of the pie plate.
Assemble and Bake
- Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese directly over the seasoned beef layer.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and mustard until well combined, then pour this mixture over the cheese and beef.
- Unroll the pie crust and place it over the top, trimming any excess and crimping the edges to seal.
- Cut 3-4 small slits in the center of the crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Top with the remaining 0.5 cup of cheese and bake for 25–30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
Notes
For the best results, let the pie rest for 5 minutes before slicing to allow the cheese and egg binder to firm up. You can substitute the pie crust with crescent roll dough for a softer, buttery finish.
